Limited edition Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx appear, exclusive to Verizon employees?
It seems that the hard workin' folks at Verizon Wireless may soon have a special phone to call their own. That's the word from Android and Me, which reports that Big Red's staffers are being offered exclusive versions of the Droid RAZR (16GB, $99) and RAZR Maxx (32GB, $199). In addition to a distinctive red and black pattern on the handset's rear, a unique number will be engraved within the camera pod and the words 'Limited Edition' will appear next to Verizon's logo on the front. Employees will also score a free dock with their purchase and can expect the handsets to arrive in April -- which is a good indication of when these things should hit Craigslist.

Lil Wayne: I'm Not Engaged!

Having a little fun with his loyal Twitter followers, Lil Wayne made it sound like he got engaged on Valentine?s Day.

The ?Mirror? rapper set rumors flying yesterday afternoon when he tweeted, ?She said yes!? in regards to his girlfriend Dhea.

Things aren?t always what they seem, however, and after getting wind of some of the chatter, Wayne sent out a new message on Wednesday morning (February 15) to clarify things.

?Ohhhhhhh now I see why! I meant ?she said yes? to being my valentine!!! Hahahahahah! Ya?ll krazy!?

32GB GSM Galaxy Nexus canceled, Google hopes you really like streaming

Galaxy Nexus
This probably won't matter too much to our American readers, but the 32GB version of the GSM Galaxy Nexus has been canceled according to Expansys and Negri Electronics. Initially the latest Nexus device was supposed to be sold in both 32 and 16 gigabyte varieties. But, for whatever reason, the larger capacity model never made it to market. Now, word is that it may never happen. A couple of importers are saying they've been notified by Samsung that handset has been discontinued, which is particularly bad news since the Gnex (as the cool kids are calling it) doesn't have a microSD slot. We hope you like streaming all your media.

Late-night poll: Do you use a third party app store?

Android Central

For a lot of people, the ability to install apps that aren't offered in the "official" Android Market is a big draw.  Android devices (for the most part) allows applications to be installed from any source, which has led to alternative marketplaces full of apps.  For the most part, they are all well done and offer a safe and convenient experience, but often lack in selection compared to Google's Market.  There's plenty of reasons people turn to places like Amazon and SlideME, and I wander and sample from markets other than Google's myself.

This got me wondering -- how many of you guys do the same?  I'm betting a good many of us do it, especially at least once a day at Amazon for the free app.  Let us know in the poll!

Justin Bieber Spreads Valentines Love

Justin Bieber has proven yet again that he really does have a big heart. This time he met with a young girl who is diagnosed with cancer to spend Valentines Day with her. The story is really hard to avoid. I have seen it on so many different sites today that I just got sucked into it. I honestly tried to avoid it because the headline was enough for me to understand what happened, but it?s too much to resist. A six-year-old girl named Avalanna Routh that was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called ATRT, has been campaigning on Facebook to get a chance to meet JB. Her movement caught on with so many people that it even made it on the news in Boston. After about 12,000 people ?liked? her page on Facebook she finally got his attention. Bieber agreed to fly her family to New York to spend the entire Valentine?s Day with her, which included a chance to mess with his famed hair. During the whole time they spent together a few sweet tweets were sent out. Beiber wrote: ?that was one of the best things I have ever done. she was AWESOME. Feeling really [...]

Add playback hotkeys to Amazon Cloud Player with a Chrome extension

Sure, Amazon's Cloud Player works -- as long as you're in the U.S. or willing to do some tinkering -- but it's fairly simplistic at the moment. There are plenty of features missing which we'd like to see added -- but since Cloud Player is a Web app we don't have to wait for Amazon!

Google Chrome users, for example, can add playback hotkeys with an extension called keyMazony. Once installed, you'll have keyboard control of your Amazon Cloud Player queue. keyMazony commands will work as long as you're in the same Chrome window as Cloud Player, even if its tab doesn't have focus. The key combinations are customizable as well -- just make sure you don't set up a combo that conflicts with another extension or Chrome's built-in keyboard shortcuts.

Motorola Droid 4 Review: Do You Love Keyboards? [Video]

The original Motorola Droid was the first Android phone worth getting (sorry G1, we loved you, but it was). A little over two years and three reincarnations later, that familiar—or is it tired?—form-factor is back. Has the Droid 4 evolved enough to keep up with today's superphones? More »

March 31 is World Backup Day 2011

World Backup Day 2011
Those benevolent armchair philanthropist Redditors are at it again! Four days ago a 'self' post extolling the potential virtues of a Backup Day exploded with 2500 upvotes and 1000 comments -- and now World Backup Day 2011 is actually happening.

On March 31, as part of the global data-saving initiative, you are encouraged to back up all of your cherished photos and videos, and important documents. If you've ever had a hard disk fail, and not had a backup to fall back on, you'll know that it's a bit like losing a sizable fragment of your soul. If you've never backed up your important files -- or if you only back up sporadically -- do it on World Backup Day!

It's not hard to back up your data, either. A 2TB drive costs only a fistful of dollars, and it takes just a few minutes to set SyncToy for Windows, or Time Machine for Mac, to mirror your data every night. If you prefer a cloud-based solution, there's always SugarSync and Dropbox. Finally, don't forget that Bundlelytic has a charity giveaway for three excellent data-backup-and-recovery tools -- $160 of software for only $25, and 100% of the proceeds to go the Japanese Red Cross.

For even more backup options, for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, check our list of 13 great backup programs.

Even Fox Anchor Shepard Smith Hates AT&T's Data Plans [Video]

What's eating Fox News' Shep Smith these days? Apparently, it's AT&T's new policy regarding customers with high data usage. Shep got a friendly text from AT&T informing him that he might find his 3G speed a bit throttled unless he switches over to a tiered data plan. Smith has been known to go off script every now and then to give the world a piece of his mind. I can't say I disagree with his chosen target this time. Give 'em hell, Shep! [BuzzFeed] More »
