Latina magazine: 15th anniversary issue

Latina magazine

Some of Hollywood?s hottest ladies are on the cover of the15th anniversary issue of Latina magazine. The pullout photo features big names like Shakira, Selena Gomez, Salma Hayek, Zoe Saldana, Eva Longoria, and Jessica Alba. But that?s just the beginning- super-hotties like Gloria Estefan, Michelle Rodriguez, Daisy Fuentes, America Ferrera, and Rosario Dawson are also in the mix. And Latina went to great lengths to pull off the monumental feat- they scheduled seven photo shoots, used over 100 red dresses, and included around $10 million in fabulous jewelry. [gallery=766]

Epson launches five 3D, 1080p home theater projectors for serious cinephiles

Epson 3D Projectors
New projectors quietly slip on to shelves almost every day, but Epson's new PowerLite Pro Cinema 6010, and updated Home Cinema series certainly caught our attention. They combine 1080p images with active 3D tech for a price that home theater builders shouldn't immediately dismiss. The flagship Pro Cinema 6010 and Home Cinema 5010 lines can output 2,400 lumens while maintaining a contrast ratio of 200,000:1. Both also include the ability to convert 2D content to 3D on the fly. The primary difference between the $4,000 6010 and $3,000 5010 (the wirelessHD-equipped 5010e will run about $3,500) is the included accessories and options: like ceiling mounts, 3D glasses and additional lens modes. The budget 3010 ($1,600) and 3010e ($1,800) models sport a more modest 40,000:1 contrast ratio and 2,200 lumen rating, but do have a pair of built-in 10W speakers. Oddly, only the 3010 package will include 3D glasses. The Pro Cinema 6010 and Home Cinema 5010 line will start shipping in November, while the 3010 series will land in October. Check out the PR after the break.

Personal Activity Monitor tracks time you spend using desktop apps

personalactivitymonitor
Up until a couple of years ago, I used to turn to RescueTime to figure out how I spend my time online. Then it got too complex, and I stopped using it. Personal Activity Monitor is like a vastly dumbed-down version of RescueTime, and I mean that as a compliment. It's free and bare-bones -- all it does is track what applications you're using and for how long.

A big drawback at this point is that it doesn't integrate with Web browsers to help you analyze how you spend your time on the Web. Still, if your work doesn't require constant Web app use, knowing how long you've used a browser overall might be enough to help you manage your time.

This is far from the only application in this space -- alternatives such as Slife and Chrometa are full-featured and impressive -- but PAM is good option for those who want a nice, simple tracker.

Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes Are Dating

Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes Are Dating

For someone who claims not to be confident enough to use pickup lines on women, Ryan Gosling sure has been linked to a lot of them lately. Over the past year, tabloids have speculated that he was dating everyone from Blake Lively to Michelle Williams and Olivia Wilde. But after this weekend, perhaps some of those rumors can be put to rest. Gosling and the lovely Eva Mendes, who recently got close while filming the drama The Place Beyond the Pines (pictured), took their budding romance public in a big way on Saturday, packing on the PDA while on a playful date at Disneyland.

According to witnesses -- and plently of photographs -- the two were seen kissing, holding hands and hanging out well into the night, all while enjoying a playful date at the Anaheim, Calif., theme park.

"They looked relaxed and seemed to be having a fun time together," an eyewitness tells People. "Like a dating couple, they always walked very closely, holding hands and their arms touching side-by-side."

Gosling, 30, and Mendes, 37, ate pink cotton candy and popcorn, and enjoyed rides like Ariel's Undersea Adventure and 4-D Toy Story Mania. They also took in the World of Color Spectacular water show and, as late as 10 p.m., were spotted at Disney's Tomorrowland.

And apparently the two were having a blast the entire time. "Eva was skipping around like a little girl," an onlooker tells Us Weekly. "She would lean into (Ryan), and she held his arm the entire time."

A source from the set of The Place Beyond the Pines concurs. "Ryan and Eva have spent a lot of time together on set," the witness confirms to People. "They have great chemistry and seem to enjoy filming together. They seem to be good friends and always laugh together."

Gosling has previously dated Rachel McAdams, Sandra Bullock and Kirsten Dunst. Mendes, who ended a long-term relationship with producer George Gargurevich this summer, has complained in the past that men never hit on her -- but it looks like Gosling is the exception!

Maybe when Gosling's not breaking up street fights, he's been practicing his pickup lines.

Marvell debuts first single-chip LTE world modem for smartphones, tablets and more

There are LTE modems and there are LTE modems. Marvell's latest is of the latter sort -- the kind you don't see (or lose in your bag) but are glad to have inside your device. It's also a first, packing connectivity for FDD-LTE, TDD-LTE, HSPA+, TD-SCDMA, and EDGE networks into a single-chip design that promises to lower the cost of manufacturing said devices. If Marvell has its way, you'll also be seeing this particular modem in more than just phones and tablets -- the company also sees it being used in everything from cars to TVs and set-top boxes. Full press release is after the break.

Did Netflix just start limiting users to one movie stream at a time? No

Over the last couple of days, some Netflix users have reported getting error messages whenever they tried to view Watch Instantly video streams on two different devices at the same time. While some reports have suggested that along with instituting a price hike September 1st it also decided to start cracking down on multiple streams, it turns out there's a simpler explanation. According to spokesman Steve Swasey, the policy is still the same and no Netflix member is limited to less than two streams at once. The messages people are seeing indicating otherwise? An "error" the company is correcting. Glitches suck, and are becoming a bit too routine on the service for our liking -- Hacking Netflix reports another blip caused S1 of Star Trek: TNG to disappear temporarily over the weekend -- but the rumors of a change in policy just aren't true, so keep that subscription canceling finger holstered for now.
