Justin Bieber is bridging the generation gap with his star-studded holiday album, Under the Mistletoe. He's collaborated with a string of stars like Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes and Usher for the November 1 LP. But it's the Biebs' pairing with Boyz II Men that's sure to expand the teen star's fanbase.

We spoke to BIIM's Nate Morris via Skype during our special "MTV First: Justin Bieber" this week, and he shared his thoughts on the young singer as well as their holiday collabo "Falalalala."

"We respect him, man," the R&B crooner told MTV News' James Montgomery. "I watch what he does, I watch what the people around him do, and they're guiding him in the right directions. You don't hear anything bad about this guy. He has his head on straight."

JB's team includes his mother, Pattie, who Morris said clearly has Bieber's best interests at heart. "His mom has got his focus in the right direction and as long as she does that, he'll be just fine," he added.

So will Boyz II Men head to the studio again with the pop superstar? Morris was optimistic, saying, "Oh, without a doubt. We just have to figure out the right circumstance. This was perfect for us because, you know, we wanted to try to make sure that the first song we did together was something that people could accept the two artists doing together. ... If there's a soundtrack or whatever that comes along that we can create something special, that'll be hot."

BIIM's team-up with JB is just one of many treats the group has planned for their comeback. On October 25, they're set to drop Twenty, a new double-disc set that features both brand-new tracks and re-recorded classics.

"It's a collection of our best work, we think," Morris admitted. "I mean, 20 years is a long time to be in this business, so we tried to encompass a little bit of everything. ...We wanted to bring everything together all on one [album] even for those young Bieber fans who may not know all the Boyz II Men records — they can get all the history and today's music on one CD."

Lil Wayne, Bow Wow Collabo 'Sweat' Almost Didn't Happen

Mack Maine was reluctant to green-light a second Wayne/ Bow Wow track, producer Detail tells Mixtape Daily.

Behind the Beats: Detail

Bow Wow has a bone to pick with the industry. After breaking into rap as a kid at the age of 13 in 2000, the now grown-up Bow is feeling a little Underrated, as the title of his upcoming December 6 Cash Money album suggests.

For his latest single, "Sweat," the now 24-year-old Bow Wow recruited Lil Wayne for a feature and producer Detail for the track.

"Obviously everybody knows I got a very diverse sound -- I can do pop, I can do rock, I can do hip-hop, R&B," the very confident "How to Love" beatmaker told Mixtape Daily. "For me it's just a matter of studying the artist and kinda coming up with a formula that's more natural for them."

On "Sweat," Detail laid a slow-rolling, pulsating pop track for Bow, who often seems to struggle with getting fans to accept that he is no longer the little pup he once was. Bow sings in Auto-Tune over the track, creating an aura of sexual seduction with his explicit lyrics. Wayne of course adds his unique brand of flirtatious, double-timed raps.

As good as the single sounds, Detail told Mixtape Daily that the collaboration almost didn't come to pass. Wayne and Bow Wow had already cut a record together, and Young Money president Mack Maine was in no big rush to make a second track. That changed when Detail sent him the beat after the two talked at Wayne's Tha Carter IV release party in Los Angeles.

"At Lil Wayne's Carter IV release party, I was talking to [Maine] about the 'Sweat' record. He hadn't even heard [it]. He was like, '[Wayne] already got a record with Bow Wow,' " Detail recalled of his and Mack's conversation.

Given Detail's track record for crafting hit singles with Young Money, Mack agreed to listen to the beat, which the producer sent him right away. "He hit me back and said, 'Damn that bitch is a beast,' " Detail said. "So when he said that, I knew off the top that this motherf---er gonna go."

This Sucks: Sprint Just Killed Unlimited 4G Data for Hotspots [Sprint]

Last month, Sprint nixed unlimited data for tethering customers. Now it's capping data for its mobile hotspot users, without grandfathering in current unlimited plans. If you have the option coverage-wise, there's basically no reason to pick Sprint's hotspots over Verizon's now. More »

Why Did Three Musketeers Flop? Milla Blames SUMMIT

The Three Musketeers flopped this weekend at the box office. Bad. A movie with an 80 million budget only made about 8 million in its opening weekend. But what went wrong? Usually I don?t weigh in on stuff like this, but it really hit home for me. Seeing all of the trailers for the Three Musketeers over the past few weeks got me irritated. My husband and I talked about it ? how many times could a film be remade? After all, this one takes the cake. Were the 1903,1911, 1914, 1916, 1921, 1933, 1939, 1948, 1961, 1969, 1973 and 1993 versions not good enough? I don?t think, for me anyway, you can beat Kiefer Sutherland or Charlie Sheen! Actress Milla Jovovich, who plays Milady, in the film, took to her twitter to blame Summit for the flop. ?I think ?summit? have swept ?3 Musketeers?, a great family adventure film, under the rug in the US?Shame on them. SHAME ON YOU ?SUMMIT? I actually saw plenty of promotion ? I just wasn?t interested. Even Orlando Bloom couldn?t get me to see this film. And after reading user reviews on IMDB, I was assured that I made to correct assumption. Naurya [...]

Selena Gomez Goes Gangster In MTV EMA Promo

'People know who the eff I is,' the show's host raps in a video for next month's MTV Europe Music Awards.
By James Montgomery

Selena Gomez

When Selena Gomez served as MTV News' special correspondent at the Video Music Awards Pre-Show in August, she was polite, professional and, as far as we can tell, did not utter a single profanity (she did get kissed by her boyfriend, Justin Bieber, though).

But in preparation for her hosting duties at next month's MTV EMA, she's decided to change things up a bit, ditching that good-girl image and going hard. At least judging by a brand-new promo for the show, that is.

Gomez ties on a bandana and throws on a flannel (only top button buttoned, of course) in the new spot, which spoofs her squeaky-clean image and features the demure actress/singer spitting some (sorta-profane) rhymes. It opens with her in full-blown princess regalia, sitting before a vanity and proclaiming to her reflection "Finally, I get to host the EMAs ... wow!"

All of sudden, her thugged-out alter ego appears on the other side of the mirror, tells Selena to "shut her face," and then launches into a few bars, rapping, "Who else better than me to be hosting the show/ People know who the eff I is/ I'm a pro/ The right time and place for me to be/ Yeah, I'll say it/ Congratulations to me!"

Gangster Gomez (or, as she puts it, "The S-E-L-E-N-A to the Gomez"), then gets all Kanye confessional on the mic, rapping that "Sh--'s crazy growing up in this industry/ I was still a baby when I hustled up into the scene" and then drops what sounds very much like a solid F-bomb too. Like we said, she goes hard.

Of course, the whole thing is a joke -- according to a message at the beginning of the spot, "Some of the Selenas in this video are fictional. Any similarities to the actual Selena are purely coincidental" -- but, as MTV's Buzzworthy blog points out, her hip-hop makeover does present a rather unique opportunity for Gomez: Now, perhaps she can drop a mixtape with Shawty Mane, a.k.a. Bieber's rapping alter ego. We'd totally cop that.

The MTV EMA will premiere on Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más at 6 p.m. ET on November 6 and noon on mtvU on November 7. American and Canadian audiences can vote for the North American nominee for the Worldwide Act award, who will represent the continent at the EMA against contenders from across the globe.

For a complete list of nominees and to vote for your favorite artists, check out the MTV EMA website. Stick with MTV News as we roll out more information on performers and presenters.

Maybe you haven't made your plans yet, but Justin Bieber knows exactly where he'll be on New Year's Eve: Times Square in New York.

Bieber has been booked to play live on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012," joining Lady Gaga on the 40th anniversary edition of the December 31 staple.

The show will help cap a busy holiday season for Bieber, who is preparing to release his first-ever holiday album, Under the Mistletoe, on November 1. The first video, for the song "Mistletoe," will debut Tuesday (October 18) at 7:54 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Bieber said he's excited for fans to check out his mix of holiday standards and new songs.

Regarding why he decided on a holiday release as fans wait for the follow-up to My World 2.0, Bieber said, "I was going to put out my album soon anyways, and I was thinking, 'It's near Christmastime. If I'm going to release an album near Christmas, I figure maybe I'd just do a Christmas album.' The fans get more music, and everyone's happy."

The singer said he picked a mix of his favorite Christmas songs ("Silent Night," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town") and new tunes ("Mistletoe," "Christmas Love") to offer a little something for everyone.

"I picked 'Santa [Claus is] Coming to Town,' because everyone loves those songs. Those are classics. They get people excited for Christmas," he said. "And then, for songs that we wrote, we wanted to make enough new songs for people to hear new music and not just hear some classics. There's a lot of new stuff on there."

It's time to get in the holiday spirit! On Friday (October 21), radio station Z100, with the help of pop star Demi Lovato, announced the lineup for their 2011 Jingle Ball concert.

All you Little Monsters better mark your calendars, because Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga, will be headlining the big event. The holiday concert will take place on Friday, December 9, at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Lovato, who is also hitting the stage at Jingle Ball, helped announce the lineup at the official kickoff party at the Aéropostale store in Times Square, where she also performed. The singer took the stage in front of a crowd filled with her fans (a.k.a. Lovatics) and sang four songs, including her cover of Lil Wayne's "How to Love" and her hit single off her Unbroken album, "Skyscraper." Lovato sat down with MTV News before the big event and told us just how thrilled she is to be a part of the big show.

"I just know I'm performing at Jingle Ball and that I'm really excited," Lovato said. "I'm going to the Aéropostale store and I'm announcing the Jingle Ball lineup."

Of course, Gaga and Lovato aren't the only acts hitting the stage. Pitbull, LMFAO, super-producer David Guetta, and Lovato's personal favorite, Kelly Clarkson, will also be in attendance.

"I used to go to her concerts and now I'm performing with her," Lovato said of sharing the stage with Clarkson.

But wait, there's more! Gym Class Heroes, rockers Foster the People and pop newbies Hot Chelle Rae will also perform before the New York crowd.

Tickets for Z100's Jingle Ball go on sale November 1.
