Sofia Vergara: South of the Border Bikini Babe

Heading south of the border for the holidays, Sofia Vergara was busy soaking up the rays in sunny Mexico on Monday (December 19).

The bikini-clad "Modern Family" beauty basked in the tropical weather alongside a gal pal, as she tweeted, "With my friend @ingridcasares chiiiilling in Mexico!"

Aside from living the good life in Mexico, Miss Vergara recently spoke with Allure about her fitness and beauty secrets.

Asked about her current workout regimen, the 39-year-old stunner revealed, "I'm not very good with working out?it's never been one of my favorite things. So the only way for me to do it is to have a trainer to be after me. If I do it alone, I sabotage myself. I met Gunnar Peterson early this year and now I work out with him; it's great because I don't have to think, I don't have to count. We do one hour at least, whenever I'm free?two times a week, three times a week, if I'm really lucky four?we do weights, and little bit of cardio."

As for her Colombian beauty secrets, Sofia dished, "I would never be without lipstick. I remember my mother would always tell me, 'Put some lipstick on.' Because you look well put-together. And I realize, all my Colombian friends are like that."

'Dark Knight Rises' Trailer Reveals Sorry State Of Gotham's Stadiums

Let's discuss the newest trailer in the latest edition of The Weekly Rising.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

If you went to see "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" this weekend and you weren't lucky enough to see the prologue for "The Dark Knight Rises," you were lucky enough to see the second trailer.

And it was a hell of a trailer!

Nothing sets the tone like a young boy singing the national anthem, and tone is what the trailer really nails. When you walk away from it, the one idea that lingers is that some bad stuff is going down in Gotham.

This new trailer shares that, among other things, in common with the first. It also begins quietly, just like the teaser. Alfred worries about Bruce, and he probably should. It's been eight years, and not much is good in the city of Gotham. Gordon sits on the chopping block as the city's police commissioner, even though he let his wife think he died to protect the city. That should be mentioned in his performance review.

Selina Kyle plays a much bigger role than we have yet seen. Appropriately, she shows up at a beautifully shot masquerade ball and doesn't bring good news with her. "A storm is coming, Mr. Wayne," she warns. "And you and your friends better batten down the hatches." Her role in all of this still hangs in the balance. Will she be a full-on antagonist for Batman or will she toe the line? She did do Bruce the courtesy of warning him about the storm, so maybe it's more ambiguous than good guy vs. bad guy. She's motivated by an idea, along the lines of what got Bruce started in the first place, so that may be the bond that connects them. What that motivating idea is has yet to be disclosed, but she comes off in the trailer sounding like an advocate for the little man.

Bane, on the other hand, has no ambiguity to speak of. Between the prologue and the second trailer, we finally get a better idea of what to expect from the masked man. I love his entrance into the football stadium. Then the final punch lands firmly with one of the greatest trailer moments in years. Watching the football field crumble in near silence automatically qualifies that scene as one of the best of 2012. Other films have done similar stunts, but not with such an assured hand, so consider me on-board with Bane's supposed earthquake machine. Admittedly, it sounded too hokey for Nolan's Batman movies, but no one can deny the awesomeness of that football scene.

Both the prologue and the new trailer prove that the talk in last month's Empire wasn't just talk. In just the two short clips, Nolan has established Bane's presence and a solid argument for him as the choice for the "Rises" villain. He's big, bad and calculated. Instead of trying to overshoot Heath Ledger's Joker, Nolan and Tom Hardy are aiming in the opposite direction.

If a trailer does its job, we should be left with an idea of what the film will be like without knowing every single story beat. That's where the trailer succeeds the most. While the stadium lets us know exactly what happens in that moment, we don't know why Bane does it. We know that he frees and arms prisoners, but for what purpose? Miranda Tate shows up, but we're still not sure what evil thing — because let's be honest — she'll be doing later in the film. Selina Kyle has an agenda, but who's to say what it is just yet?

Now I want to hear from you. What did you think of the trailer? Tweet your impressions to me via @KPSull,and check back with Splash Page on Wednesday to see some of your responses and a discussion based on those tweets.

Elephant Quest is an addictive, deep platformer

elephantquest
When someone tells me about a "platformer", my first thought is that it's probably a simple game that mainly revolves around running and jumping around, with a minimal plot. [Play a Zelda game! -Ed]

Elephant Quest is one platformer that managed to prove me completely wrong. Yes, you do run and jump around, and you also shoot at stuff. But the game has much, much more going for it.

Basically, as you run, jump and shoot, you gain experience points and level up. Hitting Space brings you into an interface where you can convert your experience points into Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Dexterity points. Once you've "specialized" your points, you then get to pick what exact skills you'd like to enhance in each field. For example, you could use your dexterity to enhance your weapons or increase your swiftness.

The game is played in a huge maze; you go through rooms using doors, and there's a large map. As the name implies, there are quests you can take, too. For example, one quest had me searching all over the place for ten balloons.

The bottom line is that this is a surprisingly deep game that just might ensnare you for a good bit longer than you intended to play. Beware!

How Secure is My Password lets you know just that

howsecureismypassword
We've all heard it before; you need to select a lengthy password, one that's hard to guess. Not a dictionary word. And it has to have some capital letters in it too, and some digits, and a symbol or two won't hurt either.

That's a handy set of rules to keep in mind, but How Secure is My Password helps us understand why they're important.

It's basically like a full-screen version of one of those password-strength meters websites sometimes use. But instead of showing you a bar going from "weak" to "strong", it shows you an estimation of how long your password would take to crack. That's a much more visceral way to understand why your password is strong.

For example, when I entered "rabbit", it came back with "your password is one of the 500 most common passwords. It could be cracked almost instantly". "rabbit5" would take two hours, "$rabbit5" would take 38 days, and "$rabbitZ5" would take 237 years. It's quite enlightening to see what a difference three simple characters can make.

Skype 5.3 for Windows released, improves mobile video call quality

Version 5.3 of Skype for Windows has just been released, with the main emphasis of the new release being improved call quality, and the quality of video received by mobile Skype users. Presumably one party of the video call must be using Skype for Windows 5.3, though.

Beyond improved call quality, not much has changed. You can now see your friends' presence icons when contact cards are collapsed, and the topic editing button is now always visible on the conversation header. For a complete list of changes, hit up the Skype Garage blog.

Busta Rhymes 'Fortunate' To Be Part Of Cash Money

'They know how to let artists be artists,' Busta tells MTV News.

Busta Rhymes most certainly respects the Cash Money conglomerate.

Some scratched their heads when the Dungeon Dragon announced last month that he had signed with Cash Money Records. Critics couldn't fathom why the East Coast rap vet would ink with Birdman's Southern-based, youth-driven label, but for Busta, the deal makes perfect sense.

"It's real fortunate to be able to have a 20-year career run and partner up with the most powerful record company in the business 20 years later," Busta told MTV News on Tuesday from the set of his Hype Williams-directed "Why Stop Now" video.

Bussa Bus began his career in 1991 as a member of the four-man Long Island, New York, group Leaders of the New School but went solo after the crew disbanded in 1993. The gravel-voiced speed rapper has since dropped eight solo albums and given hip-hop a number of memorable party anthems. Not only were "Woo-Hah! Got You All in Check," "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See" and "Pass the Courvoisier Pt. 2" huge radio hits, each song also had high-priced, creative music videos attached to them. Combining his hitmaking ability and strong visuals has made Busta one of rap's greatest and most unique artists.

The veteran continued to dominate this past year thanks to his scene-stealing verse on Chris Brown's Grammy-nominated smash "Look at Me Now" and his guest spot on Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV. At this point in his career, he was looking for a home that would continue to fuel his fire.

"They understand. They know how to nurture the music, they know how to let artists be artists, they know how to let you reach your fullest capability creatively," Busta said of Cash Money.

Back in 1997, Lil Wayne was an oft-overlooked kid rapper, but he has steadily grown into a bankable soloist and the mega musical star he is now. Busta factored in Weezy's trajectory when deciding on where he should sign. "Wayne is a perfect example. He reached his apex a little while ago, and he just continues to grow," Busta said.

It isn't just Tunechi, though. While officially signed to Young Money, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Twist and Tyga all fall under the Cash Money umbrella. With a stable of successful artists, why wouldn't Busta want to join the YMCMB team? "It feels good to see that," he said of the label's success. "It feels good to be a part of that."

What do you think of Busta joining Cash Money? Let us know in the comments!
